The boutique township of Wanaka is nestled on the edge of Lake Wanaka, surrounded by the rugged Otago landscape and the spectacular Southern Alps. It is here that winter holidays take on a slightly more relaxed pace.

Wanaka is infused with small town charm and offers top skiing and riding at the local resorts of Cardrona and Treble Cone. Stroll the streets and be inspired by galleries, stylish shops and be spoilt for choice with a great selection of cool cafes and restaurants. By nightfall Wanaka comes alive and you don’t need to go far to find a roaring open fire, and outstanding bars that serve local wines, beers and award winning cocktails.

As the gateway to Mt Aspiring National Park, Wanaka is a magnet for outdoor lovers from all over the world, and it is no accident that some of the best winter snow sports athletes choose to make this their base. The region is home to world class skiing and riding, heli-skiing, ice-climbing, and Nordic skiing.

Wanaka is located a scenic one hour’s drive from Queenstown International Airport, via the Crown Range or SH6 via Cromwell.
